Rose Nell Speer was an American gospel singer and songwriter, born on June 29, 1922, in Alabama, United States. She was a member of the influential Speer Family gospel group, which included her siblings Brock Speer, Ben Speer, Mary Tom Speer Reid, and Dad Speer. Rose Nell started singing with the group in the 1940s and became one of its most prominent members with her rich alto voice. She also contributed to the group's songwriting efforts, penning several hits, including "I Will Follow Thee," "It Must Be Settled by Faith," and "Heaven Will Surely Be Worth It All." In 1956, Rose Nell retired from singing and became a full-time homemaker but continued to write gospel songs. She passed away on July 13, 1996, in Florida, United States, leaving behind a legacy as one of the leading gospel singers of her time.
